Is Salesforce Switching to Macs?

It was a very busy week in the tech world with Linux Ubuntu: Hardy Heron released and a lot of publicity around Microsoft and Apple quarterly results. There were also discussions if MacOS should be open and if Live Mesh from Microsoft is the new virtual system.

But what is really interesting came with the end of the week. According to Alex Curylo, we are going to have an enterprise switcher soon:

Salesforce.com is giving Macs to all employees. Yup, all 4000 of us; we are going to be one of the largest enterprise software Mac shops around. As the leases come up for the Dells, IT is replacing with Macs.

The First Switch Story - My Mac So Far - A Diary

I am proud to announce that the first switch story has been published on SwitchStories.com. It is great news as finally we can present the content this website was created for. Lee wrote a fantastic piece about his experience when switching from Windows to MacOS X. It is quite detailed and it covers a few months of the time he spent with his new operating system and machine. The story is very nice to read and I am sure you will enjoy it as I did:

I have been a PC user all my life. I have known Mac users and for as long as I can remember have been taking the p*ss out of them for one reason or another. In fact, I can’t actually think of a day that went by when I had nothing to say that was derogatory to my colleague with the Mac.

Are You Confident and Demanding Enough to Switch?

If you have switched to a different internet browser does it mean you are an advanced web user? Do you need to be open-minded to go beyond your “default” option when it comes to surfing on the Internet? And finally, what is the difference between people sticking to Internet Explorer and those who choose an alternative option, like Firefox?

Seth Godin, in his latest blog post “Why downloading Firefox is like getting into college” presents some interesting facts that will help us to answer the above questions:

25% of the visitors we track at Squidoo use Firefox, which is not surprising. But 50% of the people who actually build pages on the site are Firefox users. Twice as many.

As he founded Squidoo he is the best guy to present these stats. He continues with a few conclusions:
